If you are are having difficulty convincing the NDIS planner of the efficacy of music therapy, please see the statement below.

In February 2017, the Director of Assistive Technology at the National Office of the NDIA in the Markets and Providers Division has stated to the Australian Music Therapy Association:
"I can confirm that National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) and Local Area Coordinator (LAC) staff have been briefed that the NDIS does recognise music therapy and that, unless included as a specifically identified support under capacity building, participants are able to work with their budget to source the best therapy related supports to achieve the capacity building goals (including music therapy). We would suggest that if a participant receives different advice from an NDIS planner or partner they should ask for the matter to be reviewed by a senior officer who should be able to clarify the situation."
